Celluma LED Therapy at The Med Spa at MIM
Celluma LED therapy is a relaxing, painless treatment that generates impressive results. The treatment is administered using a flexible, LED-lined arch that fits over your face. No needles, chemicals or lasers are involved – just gentle low-level light. Celluma works by focusing specific wavelengths of red, blue or near-infrared light to targeted areas of the skin.
Depending on the wavelength used, the light penetrates the dermis to stimulate collagen production, kill acne-causing bacteria or reduce inflammation.

Before and After Photos
Please note that the patients featured in these images may have undergone other treatments in conjunction with Celluma LED therapy. This photo gallery does not guarantee that everyone who undergoes Celluma LED therapy will obtain these or similar results.
Celluma LED therapy typically involves multiple sessions per week for several weeks. After your first few sessions, you’ll start seeing noticeable results: firmer skin, reduced acne and a brighter, more even complexion.
After this initial sequence of treatments, results can last for 12 weeks after your last appointment. To maintain your skin’s new, improved appearance, we recommend occasional maintenance treatments.
Who is the ideal candidate?
Any person in good health who wants to:
- Treat mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne
- Fight the signs of aging
- Improve their skin’s overall look and feel
The treatment is safe for all skin types and tones, and works well for people of all ages.
However, you shouldn’t use Celluma if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, suffer from seizures, or take steroid injections or any medications that cause photosensitivity.
If you have any questions about your eligibility, talk to us to determine if Celluma is the right fit for you and your skin.
What Can Celluma LED Therapy Treat?
There are three types of Celluma therapy, each optimized to target one of three specific skin concerns: acne, aging or inflammation.
Blue light therapy
Blue light therapy is a safe, effective means of killing Cutibacterium acnes, the bacteria that cause acne. It can also reduce sebaceous gland activity to decrease the amount of pore-clogging oil produced in your skin.
Although commonly associated with teenagers, acne is a skin condition that also affects adults. After years of trying to solve their acne problems, many people find blue light therapy to be a highly effective, chemical-free solution for their pimple woes.
Blue light therapy works best on mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne (characterized by red, inflamed pimples) and is safe for all skin tones.
Red light therapy
This treatment uses red light that penetrates deeply into the dermal layer. The light stimulates fibroblasts in your skin to produce collagen and elastin, the proteins that provide elasticity and plumpness to your skin.
As the natural levels of these essential molecules rapidly decrease in the body after age 25, stimulating their production is one of the best ways to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and enjoy a more youthful appearance.
Infrared light therapy
Of the three types of low light, infrared penetrates the deepest into your skin. Celluma’s infrared technology boosts cell energy to stimulate your body’s natural healing process. The treatment improves circulation, soothes skin inflamed by acne and even reduces chronic pain in the treated area.
What to Expect During Your Celluma Treatment
A Celluma treatment is a relaxing, uncomplicated experience. After washing your face and removing any makeup, you will lie down on a comfortable treatment table. Our esthetician will give you a pair of protective eye goggles and place the device over your face. Then, you’re free to relax, meditate or even fall asleep! The treatment lasts for 30 minutes.
Afterward, you can return immediately to your regular activities. There is zero downtime associated with Celluma; in rare cases, temporary redness may occur.
Complementary and Alternative Treatments
A Celluma session can be performed on its own or as an addition to any of our relaxing spa facials.
Our team also offers a host of other therapies to treat acne and combat signs of aging. These procedures can be used in conjunction with Celluma LED therapy. In fact, we have found a multipronged approach incorporating more than one type of treatment offers more benefits than repeatedly undergoing one single type of therapy.
- Chemical peels exfoliate the skin to treat both wrinkles and acne
- Dermaplaning gently exfoliates skin for an overall brighter look
- Microneedling increases collagen production
- PRP injections are similar to microneedling, with the additional healing benefits of your own platelets
How Much Does Celluma Cost?
The cost of Celluma depends on the number of sessions you undergo. Typically, a course of treatment involves several sessions a week for multiple weeks. The more advanced your skin issues, the more sessions will likely be required. Afterwards, you may also choose to undergo maintenance treatments to prolong Celluma’s effects.
At your in-person or virtual consultation, we’ll develop a treatment plan calibrated to your skin’s needs and provide you with a cost estimate.

Celluma LED Therapy FAQ
Is Celluma safe?
Yes! In the not-so-distant past, many people used the UV light of tanning beds to “dry out” acne. Of course, we now know the dangers of excessive exposure to those types of harmful rays. Celluma uses LED light, which produces narrower, more targeted wavelengths that don’t damage the skin.
Does light therapy hurt?
Not at all. Unlike laser treatments, chemical peels and microneedling—all of which can cause stinging or burning sensations in your skin—Celluma causes zero discomfort whatsoever.
Why do I have to remove my makeup before a Celluma session?
Many types of makeup contain minerals that deflect light, preventing your skin from getting the most out of the treatment. For best results, Celluma should always be used on freshly washed, clean skin.
Can I apply makeup immediately after a session?
Yes—you can apply any products you wish after your treatment.
